I am going to have an operation soon, worried about how much help I am going to need post operatively

I have been booked in for an operation to tie off the valves and strip my varicose veins. I want to have the op, they are severe and caused by an underlying condition which was made worse by two pregnancies.
I have been given very little information, and I have left a message for the consultant, but still waiting to hear back.
So my questions are as follows:
Will I need GA?
How long will I kept in for if the op is at 2pm.
How painful is it afterwards on a scale of 1 -10?
What sort of recovery time do you need. ( I have three boys under the age of four, so need to know how long I will need help with them for?
Thanks for any replies in advance.

Sorry, no experience, but keeping this bumped for you.

Hope it goes well, I'm sure it will be worth it.

No idea either, but bumping for you.

Take care.

Thanks for Dollyp, it seems no one knows anything about such ops, incredible considering how many pregnancies there must have been!

Bump for you.
Maybe if you started a new thread with the type of operation in the title you might get some more responses?

Thanks LucyJu,
didn't mean to sound annoyed!! I have spoken to some one now, so am a little bit more informed. I think I am just worrying about it for various reasons.
Probably being discreet by not putting nature of op in title, as did wonder about whether I wanted to discuss my varicose veins at all
