Woman trouble

Morning. Am fretting.

Have been on the pill for 2 years as I have endometriosis. Anyway, all fine, periods fine, happy days, nothing to report.

On Saturday, I started to get a twinge in my left side and a bit of spotting and now, it is almost as if I am having a proper period, when I am actually only on day 10 of my pills.

I am now of course fretting. I am 43. Could this be the start of the menopause?

I have been under a fair bit of stress of late, so could it be that?

Any thoughts would be gratefully received.

Thanks :)

yes, it could be stress (that bugger can play havoc with your body) or peri menopause but you need to speak to your GP. Perhaps have a telephone consultation with her/him and see if s/he wants you to make an appointment.

I recently had mid cycle bleeding on the pill. Long story short it was fibroids. However, I initially wondered about peri menopause but the gynae said the pill would mask the symptoms so would not cause breakthrough bleeding.

Thank you.

I have a bit of pain in my lower left abdo too, which I find odd as I had my left ovary and fallopian tube removed 2 1/2 years ago??

I have an apt booked for the 6th Feb as I need more pills, so will talk to the GP about it then.

Can your body get used to a certain type of pill do you think? What do they do about fibroids Hilda?

My fibroids were removed via a hysterocopy a couple of weeks ago. Not all fibroids cause those sort of problems, it's when they're growing under the womb lining as mine were. I was also taken off the pill (Cilest) and had the Mirena coil inserted at the same time. 2 weeks later I'm still bleeding bleeding so fingers crossed it'll stop soon. No idea if you can get used to a pill - I was on Cilest for 7 years before my troubles started.

Hope you are feeling ok now Hilda.

So annoying as it seems to stop and start.

Really don't want problems now :(

Do you have your other ovary and tube?

Can I just ask, is there any chance you could have missed a pill, etc. and become pregnant?

Pain and "unscheduled" bleeding can happen with both ovarian cysts or ectopic pregnancies. I know it's unlikely to happen , especially when you're on the pill, but it's definitely worth checking out sooner rather than later.

Workitbabe · 21/01/2014 07:35

Yes have my other ovary and tube and have not missed any pills.

TMI but last time I had sex was at the start of December and have had a period since then so cannot think I am pregnant.

I am hoping it is stress or being on the same pill for 2 years and it becoming less effective.

I am keeping a watchful eye and will talk to the GP.

Thanks all. x

Still bleeding grrrrr. Seems as if it is going to stop - tmi, but goes brown and then kicks off again. Very light but still annoying and just a nagging pain in my left side but not all the time.

Worried now :(

Have you made an appt with your GP yet? Let her do any tests she deems necessary to reassure you.

Jaffacakesallround · 22/01/2014 22:25

The Pill would override any menopausal symptoms- some women are given the pill to regulate their periods.

It sounds more as if you have breakthrough bleeding due to the Pill not being absorbed.

Have you had a tummy bug or taken a pill at a much later time or something?

Workitbabe · 23/01/2014 09:13

Thanks. Have an apt booked but not until 6th Feb as they are hopeless here with appts unless you are at deaths door. Jaffa have not changed anything with pill taking and no tummy bug either.

The bleeding seems to have stopped but now (and sorry this is way tmi) I am itchy around my vagina. I am thinking perhaps I am allergic to the scented pantyliners that I was using (usually use Tampons for full on period).

Hate being a woman. Coming back as a male cat.
