My 4 week old DS has been awake all night snuffling- snotty nose, snoring etc. Is there anything I can give him or is he just too little?? Any advice at all??

Rub some Vicks on the soles of dc's feet before you pop them into a baby gro. Works a treat.

Also get some baby olbas oil and put on a muslin, place near the Moses basket.

Or boots do a fab room vaporiser- £13 I think, but it's really helped my DS sleep better when he has a cold

We found putting books (dan brown seemed the right height!) under the two legs of the Moses basket/ cot at the head end meant all the snot ran out and down dds face instead of stuffing her nose up? Not pleasant but worked!

The only thing you can really give them at that age is saline nasal drops. It will help unblock their nose. Vapour rub/vicks should be used until 3 months. You could also try putting the shower or run the hot taps in the bathroom as the steam will also help unblock their nose.

normal vicks shouldnt be used on children under the age of 2. You can get baby versions but they shouldnt be used under 3 months and neither can olbas oil, etc. What pp is correct - saline drops/spray and a steamy bathroom is about all you can use for that age of baby

Thanks everyone. Got some saline nasal drops (now just have to be brave enough to put them in- feels a bit like drowning him!) and will try propping up moses basket to let snot run free!!!

How did it go? Hope everyone slept better in your house last night op!
It was this reason I turfed my dd into her own room at 4 1/2 months, she snored and kept me awake all night!

We had exactly this problem. The calpol saline nasal spray is great. As others have said, raise the head of the Moses basket, sit with baby in a steamy bathroom and put a wet towel on the radiator to introduce some moisture to the air.

Sorry OP, everyone is correct! I misread 4weeks for 4months!

Much better night last night- Thanks everyone. Still a bit grizzly but at least he fed and we got a bit of sleep!!!
