Dumbass MMR Measles Question

Squarer · 28/07/2006 17:43

DS had his MMR a week last Monday, but has for the last couple of days been sprouting a couple of spots. Today they are all over his face back and arms.
I had understood that symptoms could show themselves up to 10 days later, but it is 12/13 days later.
My question is:
a) am I fooling myself thinking it is Measles from the MMR - is it possible at this late stage?
b)If it is measles from the MMR should I be doing anything?
Thanks in anticipation!

I don't know if I'm right but I think when my kids were vaccinated I was told its quite common to develop the spots from the mild dose of measles they get BUT its harmless. As I say I'm not sure if thats right though!

Think it means the vaccine has worked. My eldest got a few measles spots around the 10 day ish mark.

Thank you Mary, much appreciated... I have googled but can't find anything at all so your thoughts are most useful! I didn't actually take DS for his jab, so whatever it was the nurse said has been lost for ever in the caverns of DPs mind.. grr!!!

Oh thanks Tinker - he's not feeling great with it and as I don't know what it was the nurse said I am a little on edge. Reassuring to know that no-one is coming on going "quick, ring NHS direct you fool!"

If I remember correctly I was told the measles part react starts about 10days later.

Squarer · 28/07/2006 19:55

I'm now thinking that those sprinkly little dots at the back of his neck a few days ago weren't actually heat rash then, so the timing thing seems to be there. And if it's harmless, I'm happy
You know when you get one of those sudden paranoidmummy moments though???

My Dr said that if your DC got measles, then that was fine, and no problem, but that the Dr should be told about it, as it's a reaction they would like to note.

Squarer · 28/07/2006 20:18

Thanks HS. I'll ring them to ask. (like the name btw!)

My DS had his MMR just over 2 weeks ago and he had a sprinkling of measle type spots after 10 days. He still has a few and the heat seems to aggravate them too. I believe it's a good sign as it shows the vaccine is working.

Thank you Tallmummy

Dont worry about the paranoid mummy moments, we all get them.
