Hi all,
I will try and be as brief as possible.
I've been feeling generally unwell for the last couple of months, fatigue, aches and pains, not sleeping are some of the main symptoms. In the last few weeks this has got considerably worse with chronic joint pain, most mornings I struggle to get out of bed and its incredibly painful to walk down/up stairs, cannot get up from the floor without considerable difficulty the pain is excruciating!
Saw a different Doctor who ordered blood tests and received a note from the surgery yesterday telling me my Calcium and Vitamin D levels are very low and to obtain over the counter supplements.
I already take vitamin supplements, including Vitamin D3!
Should I go back to the Doctor and explain this? What could be causing the low levels if I'm already supplementing my diet? I should add that I have lots of exposure to the sun throughout the year.
I just want to feel normal again!
Thanks for reading.

Yes, definitely go back and tell him what you're already taking. Did he check you (blood test) for thyroid probs.?

Hi Goodness,
I'm not sure so will try and make an appointment and ask.
Surely he should be calling me back asking questions, instead of making the assumption that I am not taking Vitamin D already?
I will try and get an appointment for sometime this month!
I would like to know what the level was showing as so that I can know how much I should be taking daily.
Thank you

Exactly! You need to know the dosage. S/HE needs to tell you. Ridiculous. They can give you a prescription for it of cheaper way for you to buy it. But definitely get thyroid checked if not already done so and, perhaps, see another doc. I take levothyroxine cos I was tired n had aching joints. It was a simple bolo test. V straight forward.
