I have had pains off and on in my lefthand side for about 4 years. I can't work out if it's bowel or ovarian pains.
For the past 2 days I have been having such strong pains (which I could describe as a stich or trapped wind) that it has actually taken my breath away it is so bad. Only for an hour each day about an hour after eating.
I was driving and felt like I was going to pass out.
Feel fine now but obviously anxious as to what it could be?

Am going to state the bleeding obvious - go to see your GP asap.

Could be an ulcer of some sort.

Blossomhill · 27/07/2006 21:58

Mercy - An ulcer ?

Have been to gp and she wasn't that concerned tbh

you're not on painkillers are you? had a similar thing a couple of weeks ago and it was a reaction to brufen

Blossomhill · 27/07/2006 22:03

Moomin - no I am not. Just so worried it could be the big c. Thinking rationally though after 4 years I would be seriously ill by now?

gall stones?

jampots · 27/07/2006 22:29

I think you can take something called Buscopan or Buccastem for bowel spasm over the counter now. I used to suffer with IBS and was prescribed this many years ago. Possibly worth at least seeing your pharmacist

that seems significant that it is after you have eaten. is it particularly bad if you have eaten fatty food? if so could be gall stones. They are notoriously painful. my dad had them for years and aftern umpteen visits to the GP they decided it was gallstones. He had the op and the pain dissappeared overnight.
