I think this is me!

GP diagnosed pnd (youngest is 2.5) but i dont feel like that all the time, i was reluctant to take ad's as i feel ok most of the time, it seems to be related to my period.

I have been having my period every two weeks over the last six months so the anger and anxiety has been worse, but still not all the time.

If you have had this, how was it treated? Any advice welcome.

About 6 years ago, after going to my GP several times and not getting anywhere, I went to see a private gynaecologist and was diagnosed with PMDD. I was prescribed the Mirena coil and I also had to take Estradol for around 6 months.

I'd always had heavy, irregular periods and suffered from PMT but my condition worsened after having children. I felt that 2 weeks out of 4, I was extremely anxious, constantly angry, constantly tearful and out of control. I have to say that I frightened myself.

Soon after the mirena coil was inserted, I felt totally different. My husband also commented that he felt like he was living with another woman who was now a lot calmer.

Did you know that there's a PMDD site?

Mrs2 that is amazing, you have described me! (Actually a bit tearful at the prospect of there being a cure!)

Good luck! It is very hard. It isn't depression although some of the symptoms are the same. I've had a depression and I could distinguish between the 2. It helps to keep a chart of your symptoms.

I've also remembered that I joined the National Association for Premenstrual Syndrome and, if I recall correctly, found the gynaecologist through there due to some research I read.
