I'm female, 42, weight in proportion to height, not desperately fit, but not unfit (have run half marathons until a couple of years ago, still run a bit, walk a fair amount).
Today I walked up a step hill with a friend, quite hard work, only took about 15 mins, kept stopping to admire the view as we went. Got to the top feeling breathless and heart pounding - and next thing I knew was her trying to wake me up.
I remember feeling lightheaded, and that's it. I apparently blacked out and fell to the ground, she slapped my face and checked I hadn't swallowed my tongue, luckily she is a first aided at work and knew I wasn't fitting or anything like that. She got me up, I remember everything being blurry, then I went again.
I leant with my head on a gate for a while, had some water, and eventually we made our way back down. I felt better, but far from ok. She said I should go to A&E, I refused, but did go to my GP this afternoon (who told me of for not going to hospital).
Blood pressure was normal (which for me is low always, it was 95/65 today) and heart rate too. I was ill over Xmas with a head cold, and have felt a bit run down since, not sure if that's relevant, but I don't know. I am having blood tests and an ECG on Thursday at the docs, results due monday.
My biggest worry was the doctor saying I can't drive for 6 months. I was not in a state to question, but am now scared about work, what's wrong with me, what's going to happen.
Sorry for the epic post, I'm just feeling a bit vulnerable.
