DD (6 months) has had a succession of bad colds and various bugs, and me and DH have come down with them all. Normally I'm really healthy, and dh and I never used to suffer from the same bugs in the past. I think I must be pretty run down at the mo, but honestly, we're going to have to spend at least SOME time at work this year - so please, if anyone has any personal fave methods for staying well, can you let me in on them?

I recommend Echinacea (for you and DH, not DD!) - it boosts your immune system (buy the drops from a health food shop).

High dose vitamin C is good too.

JeniN, I had the same problem/question - here . The gist was wash hands a lot, take zinc supplements, and as soon as your dd gets a cold, take echinacea for a week or so. Since I started this, dd has had one cold and I caught it, but it went after 2 days and wasn't that bad. So maybe its working... Hard to tell, but it does help to feel like I'm doing something.

JeniN, I know what you mean. I used to boast that I'd often go 2 years without getting a single virus even though dp had a lot more. Since dd was born I feel like there's something every month. Stomach bugs are the worst.

I don't have any further advice than you've already been given, but to emphasise that hand washing is one of the best things to do. It's how nurses in hospitals attempt to stay free of germs from patients so it must work!

Juicing. Always helps me. You can buy them for very little these days, though if you can afford it get one that takes whole fruit (I have the Breville Anthony Worrall Thompson one which is fab and only takes a minute to clean)

evita, I used to do the same boast!
Since Christmas, I've had 3 colds and a stomach bug.
I have heard that's it's the same cold that won't go away, and you only think you're better. Blah!

Cheers guys, I must admit I haven't bothered with echinacea recently, so that might be my downfall, hadn't heard of using zinc. Definitely some stuff to think about. Especially since a snotty baby crawled over my (just) healthy dd at mother and toddlers earlier while i wasn't looking and then coughed in her face. Hmm.
