Periods - 10 months after birth - what is normal?

Hello
I have not posted here before, but need some advice. Need to go into some personal detail. My ds was born 10 months ago. I had my first period at 3 months, even though I was brestfeeding. This was very heavy, as was the next 2/3. I then had a couple of what I would call my normal period (pre pregnancy): 4-5 days, quite heavy at the beginning and tailing off. My last 3 periods have been 2 days long, very light and no pain. I have also not been getting any 'warning signs' such as sore breasts before hand.
Is this normal? Does anyone know if your cycle/symptoms can change after the birth of a lo? Will it change again? I have tried to look it up, but much info on what happens just after birth, but nothing on the longer picture. Any help gratefully received. Many thanks.

Rosiecheeks, are you still breastfeeding? This can make a difference.

Hi Rosiecheeks,

My periods have definetely changed since having my daughter, she is one years old, my periods were much heavier like yours for the first few months after she was born, now they are very light, hardy get a period only lasts for a few days.

I really don't htink you should worry rosiecheeks - most women find their periods are weird post birth. I never bled while bfing, friends of mine did however - it isnt the same for everyone by any means. I remember after I had dd1 I had a very short bleed - literally half an hour - when she was about 3 weeks old, then nothing until 6 weeks after her final breastfeed!!

You can always ask your HV but it sounds like your are normal to me!
