Bleeding between periods

I went to the doctor a couple of months ago because I had bleeding between my periods. She examined me, gave a smear test and a blood test. Results were normal but she did say I had a vascular cervix and it was nothing to worry about.

I went to the doc again a few days ago for something else, it was a different doctor and she asked if I still had the bleeding. I said that I did and she stressed that if it changed in any way, I must come back to the doctors immediately.

She put the fear of god into me. I've had blood tests and smear tests and they were clear so what else could it be that would have her warning me like that?

It is very very common. Lots of women have a breakthrough bleed now and again. It could be many things. Dont worry too much.

I have this and have been to the GP a few times about it. The first time she put the fear of god into me, saying it needed to be investigated, but she has calmed down now! (As have I!)

I had internals, a smear, blood tests...all fine, then repeated a few months later just to check no changes....again, all fine.

She now just puts it down to being part of my period.

However, she said the same as your GP - if it changes, to go back.

Similar thing a few years ago. Scared the bejeesus out of me as I was convinced I had something really sinister going on. Doc put it down to a hormone imbalance once all the tests had come back as normal and prescibed some pills (can't remember the name of them, think it began with 'm') and within a day it had stopped and have never had a problem since.

I get it every month, regularly two weeks after my period there is a small bleed. My GP wasn't concerned (I hope she wasn't wrong!)

Mine was due to fibroids which were discovered during a vaginal ultrasound and have just been removed. Probably an idea to get checked out. There are loads of reasons for mid cycle bleeding, mostly not serious, but best to know for sure.
