Anybody had this before, but worrying....

I just went to breathe in normally and choked (nothing in my mouth). I literally couldn't breathe and just coughed and coughed, I felt panicky and took myself outside (don't know why, just thought 'I need air') and said to myself, don't cough, don't cough, just breathe and I eventually stopped coughing.

I heaved each time I coughed too.

It was horrible, is this just a normal thing, or is it worth getting checked? It has happened to me a couple of times before, but nowhere as severe or panicky.

I have had pains in my left chest for a while too (I'm guessing not heart as this is central, right?)

Any ideas or similar experiences?

Title is meant to say 'bit worrying' NOT 'but worrying'.

I've had this (as has dh) when a teeny tiny dust particle catches in the back of my throat. Really unpleasant, results in lots of gasping and streaming eyes?

I would mention it to GP, just in case it's reflux or something.

Panic attack? I have them when stressed/v upset and they sound similar, although I get the urge to puke as well.
If so, there are CBT techniques to help, the easiest one I can explain is to focus on feeling your feet planted firmly on the floor, really think about the sensation, whether standing or sitting. It takes you out of the cycle.

Hope you are okay. Thanks

Thanks for your replies, I think it was just a one-off thing and not a a panic attack. Pretty scary though, I will keep an eye on it. Thanks again.
