Large lump as irregular bleeding

For the last few years (I know, burying my head in the sand at its best) I've had a large lump in my vagina. Well, not IN my vagina as such, but sort of under the labia between the very top of my leg and vagina itself.
As well as this, I've had irregular bleeding since getting the implant out last summer. The lump doesn't bother me at all, there's no pain or discomfort.

I finally went to the doctor last week. She thinks it's a large cyst but has referred me to gynae due to the size of it (it's probably about the size if a small small egg)

Of course, I've googled. Sounds like it may be a bartholins cyst. Has anyone had this? If so, why might gynae do? I'm so worried about that is could be something else. As a result of my mums suicide, I do tend to panic about terrible things happening (mostly to my kids) and am trying not to panic about this. But it's keeping me awake at night.
