I know I am not going to be diagnosed online but any suggestions will help as I have been googling madly.
I have had a rash for about 3 months now. It originally appeared on my inner thighs where my legs meet my crotch and was quite itchy and red and seemed to have a slight sheen to it. The GP thought it was thrush, so I religiously applied clotrimazole and took a very strong oral anti-fungal. This didn't do anything. By this time it had appeared on my lower left abdomen, a small patch on my right hip and what seems to be the same rash just by both armpits. It is extremely itchy. Under my armpits it is sort of little bumps but on my abdomen it is sort of a large area with bumps too. My skin is red/discoloured slightly where the rash is.
The itching and lack of progression forced me to go and see another GP (the practice makes you an appt for whichever GP is available) who thought it was either scabies or lichen planus. He prescribed permetherin which I am using now. I had already thought it might be that so I have been using sulphur soap and eurax which stops the itching for a bit but it always comes back after a few hours.
I have another GP appt next week and am going to ask them to refer me to a dermatologist as if it is not scabies, it might be lichen planus which requires a very heavy steroid. I don't want to take this if it is not definitely lichen planus and I am sick of the GP's misdiagnosing/not knowing. It is unbearably itchy.
My husband did also have a rash briefly a few months back which disappeared but he now has a rash under his armpit but I am pretty sure this is just psoriasis which he also has on his elbows.
Has anyone had a similar experience with an unknown rash? How quickly will the itching stop if it is scabies?
