Varicose veins???

I have been getting pain in my right calf just below my knee for sometime now. It started when I was pg with my dc4. I thought it would go away once I had her but it is getting worse and she is 13 months old. I have very obvious big blue veins on my upper thigh on that leg and some small spider veins in the area where the pain is but nothing that bulges.

I am not in constant pain. It is usually when I am resting and is often worse in the evening especially when I have been on my feet at lot. Mostly it is an ache but Recently I have had episodes where the pain will come on suddenly and is so severe it takes my breath away. It only lasts a few minutes but there is nothing I can do to make it better. I cannot kneel sitting back on my calves as it is too uncomfortable which to me suggests that it is something circulatory. It is not a muscular pain and There is no swelling and the area is not warm.

Is this the start of varicose veins? Should I bother going to the dr or will they not do anything anyway?

Thanks

Hi Jennifer,
You poor thing - if it is VV's they are very painful. You shouldn't however get pain to that degree & whilst I wouldn't want to worry you as it could be many different things, I would most certainly go to the doctors as it is just possible it is a problem with the circulation & you need to get it checked out. Good luck
