I saw an opthamologist last week about my right eye, which bulges. Not hugely noticeable other than in photos, but it aches more by the end of the day than my left.

He was of the opinion that it's my thyroid and has referred me.

My GP however has run blood tests and is convinced that my thyroid's fine (my level was 1.4).

I've googled other thyroid symptoms and some do fit: constantly wired, not able to sleep in, feeling of a lump in my throat, tingling in extremities. But obviously these can all be explained by other things.

I haven't lost weight, which I know is a classic sign, but I'm very careful with my diet and exercise so don't really see that happening anyway.

I gave birth 10m ago if that means anything (I know there's postpartum thyroid issues).

Any ideas?

Oh and I had a head MRI yesterday which came back totally clear: no concerns. So it's nothing nasty like a tumor behind the eye...

Just because that level us 'normal' it doesn't mean it's right for you. Either ask to see a specialist endocrinologist or get your doc to alter your medication. Or both

Your GP cannot tell from your TSH level what is going on with your thyroid.
On the face of it your TSH looks good, but on the other hand you have symptoms and signs that suggest that something may be going on with your thyroid, including possibly Thyroid Eye Disease.

To rule this in (or out) your GP needs to check your FT4, FT3 and TRAb without delay, and refer your NOW re the eyes.

Do not allow him to fob you off!

Interesting you say Thyroid Eye Disease, because that's what Dr Google is suggesting also...

I'll try my GP again and get a referral too. Thank you for the encouragement.
