Bulging eye and tingling - thyroid? TTC soon...

I saw an opthamologist yesterday who's fairly convinced I have a thyroid issue.

DC#2 is 10m old and my right eye has been getting progessively more prominent since he was born (I initially thought it was my left eye getting smaller, but the doctor thinks the problem is with my right). I've also been having some tingling in my fingers and toes, which my neurologist (am in the USA so have lots of 'people' ;) ) puts down to a course of chemo I had a few years ago (although my oncologist disagrees with her).

I don't have weight issues, which I know is common with thyroid, but I have suffered from some PND (not serious, but not nice) and am have been constantly on the go since DS was born: I don't feel like I've exhaled, am always rushing around at 100+ mph etc. My doctor says that this too is classic thyroid.

From my research though, the tingling would be due to low levels of thyroid hormones, but the eye would be caused by high levels.

Is it possible to switch between high and low levels of the hormones?

Also, we're about to start ttc #3 (i.e. within the next week). Is this sensible before I'm properly diagnosed?

I had bulging eyes when my overactive Thyroid was in an advanced stage, but I also had many other text book symptoms such as
Drastic weight loss despite eating for my life, rapid pulse rate, high blood pressure, trembling fingers, irrational behaviour, rages and paranoia. Then my periods stopped.
Both eyes bulged but the left is more protruding than the right. I also had a goitre which is a swollen thyroid gland.
If you have an overactive Thyroid it is advisable to be treated before you TTC.

Did you ever get a diagnosis? Was it Graves disease? That seems to be the name coming up lots.

You had a lot more symptoms than I do: sounds like a nasty experience.
