Are there any issues with medium to long-term Betamethasone use?

Side effects or anything?

I have recurrent ulcers (due to a virus, menopause, depression or 'being run down' apparently) & these are all I can have to 'cure' them. I should take them (as a mouthwash) while I have the ulcer plus 2 weeks

As I have basically been taking them since the beginning of October with 3x5-7 day breaks. I started again today.

So is it a problem?

I had to use them as a mouthwash when I had lichen planus. I was worried about long term use etc because they are a steroid, but my consultant didn't seem concerned. If a GP rather than a consultant has prescribed them, I'd go back & check that they are comfortable with you continuing to use them or whether you need to be referred to a consultant if the ulcers aren't clearing up.

I think that's the same stuff that's in my asthma inhaler - which I've used for 30 years... But I could be wrong

Thanks that does make me feel better

The choices of diagnosis were given to me by the consultant Wink
