What the hell is wrong with my foot?

For the last couple of weeks I have been having a weird shooting pain in my foot, sometimes it is unbearable.

It is at the top of the foot. Just below the ankle joint and towards the small toe.

It seems to be between the bones of the feet and it is really, really sore.

Worried it is going to be debilitating soon, any ideas? I only wear very sensible doc Martin style shoes.

Won't the gp just keep me waiting for 3/4 of an hour, tell me I am being silly and send me away?

possibly, but is that any worse than asking the internet to diagnose your foot sight unseen?

Ponyphysio · 29/12/2013 21:18

Could be a metatarsal stress fracture - very common. Is it worse with walking etc?

Geckos48 · 29/12/2013 21:33

Yes it does get worse with walking but tends to flare up when I am sitting still and be very bad when I first wake up. No swelling etc

Obviously if it goes on much longer I will see a doctor but I would rather ask on line than end up wasting a professionals time (if that is all the same to you!)

two weeks is long enough for an unbearable pain.

Geckos48 · 29/12/2013 21:46

It's been two weeks over Christmas though, I am hardly going to bother them at the busiest time of year.

I don't think it's a fracture, massage really helps

Sounds more like something inflammatory (in my professional opinion lol). Any problems with any other joints? Feeling otherwise well? Any swelling of your foot/ankle area? What age are you (just in decades if yr not comfortable). Would it wake you in the night, or stop you getting over to sleep?
