I had a traumatic birth with DS1 nine years ago. He has a large head (still does!) and got completely stuck. I had a failed ventouse, and was going for em CS when he fi ally came out with forceps. I tore really badly and had "too many stitches to count". Long and short is that I've never been able to use tampons since then as they immediately work their way down and nearly out, which is obviously uncomfortable.

Is there anything that can be done about this?

Is it worth trying a mooncup or would that work it's way out as well?

TIA

Try a moon up and see what happens. I haven't been able to use tampons for 27 years since the birth of my first of three babies. I have a bucket vag and a prolapse of the bladder.

There is surgery that can sort it called the Fenton procedure, do not have this as when you go into the menopause which I am now at 47, your vag shrinks anyway and because of the surgery it really shrinks and makes sex almost impossible.

I haven't had the surgery, but know what can happen, and my vag is definatley changing in all sorts of horrid ways because of the meno, and I am supposed to use dilators twice aday for ten minutes because my vag is shrinking. I would rather be as I was than what I am turning into.

A menstrual cup is worth a go.
Tampons just leaked after DS1's ventouse arrival.
MeLuna cup, purchased after DS2, has been a revelation.
I purchased from here

Pelvic floor issue? Would physio help?

Please go and talk to your doctor. There must be things they can suggest. Big hug for such a horrific birth.

Hi, really sorry to hear you are suffering - and so long after the birth. I had a horribly similar situation with my DTDs birth(s). DTD1 looked upwards as she was coming down birth canal so she presented with the widest part of her head... and I also ended up with forceps and 'too many stitches to count'.

Yes try a mooncup - I have been using one for about 6 years (2 years after the birth) and started for exactly the same reason as you - the tampons would work out or I could feel them etc. It has been pretty good for me, plus doing my pelvic floor exercises when I remember. If no use, go and speak to yr dr as well. Best wishes.
