I have had this cold sore on the corner of my mouth for about a MONTH. . It hurts to eat and it cracks and pours with blood every time I smile (thankfully this is a fairly infrequent occurrence, owing to my innate foultemperedness)

I have tried Zovirax, Savlox, hydrocortisone cream and even earwax

It WON'T go away. It's so embarrassingly visible too. Anyone got any ideas?

OMG I thought it said this INTERNAL cold sore

Sympathy.

I would take the breastmilk if I was you. I have no other ideas

neat vodka or any alcohol?

Tutter · 21/07/2006 12:30

poor you. i can empathise - i have a nasty one on my upper lip. i give up on zovirax once it's past the blister stage - concentrate on stopping the wet-dry-wet-dry thing whoch means the top keeps coming off and rehealing - over and over. i put a dab of eight hour cream, but maybe vaseline would do the same thing?

Geranium oil applied neat is really good. My ex-H used to get cold sores & they healed & disappeared much quicker once I got him on to this.
You can get geranium oil in Boots or a health food store. Personally, I rate it as better than tee-tree oil, which is often also recommended.
Geranium oil shouldn't be applied neat usually but is ok to do on a cold sore.
