Crusty ear

Have posted in Children's Health but thought I'd try here to in the hope of more traffic...

DD aged 3.10 has a crusty ear so it appears some fluid must be leaking from it?!?

She has no temp, and is otherwise seemingly well, although she did have an upper respiratory tract infection 10 days ago - she finished anti-b's for that last Wednesday. She has a stuffed up nose following that infection but it's not bothering her.

Does crustiness in the ear automatically mean ear infection? I have asked if she's put anything in her ear and she says no, which I am inclined to believe.

I'm just trying to work out if an emergency GP appointment will be needed tomorrow - am currently on a feeding marathon with 5 day old DD2 so trying to work my logistics!

If it's in the ear canal it could be otitis externa. That can be treated with a spray for the ear.

What's the discharge like?
