she is 21 mths old and she cannot even sit down as her bum is hurting her cos she got the runs for the past 2 days in a light yellow/brown colour - like a newborn poo colour. Her bottom and private parts and body too is raw red - ive put metacium (sp?)all over her bottom and private parts. i gave her a bath last nite but she could hardly sit in it - poor little thing!

Take her to your GP - my ds had a similar bug and they gave me Canesten for fungal nappy rash, although he was still having the runs the cream helped the sore bits.

Twiglett · 21/07/2006 10:24

bicarb is good for relieving symptoms and also acts as a cleansing agent

just might be relieving I think

biglips · 22/07/2006 12:40

well dp gone out to get some bicarb of soda and eggs as her poo is very light beige colour and its like water too she is in bed now cos ive gave her a lukewarm plain bath and also after all that sobbing before as her private parts are raw!

aww poor girl, my dd was like this after a course of antibiotics, i was standing her in the bath after every poo and splashing cool water over her to clean her as she was too sore to wipe, metanium helped loads, as did the nappy free time as twiglett says, poor thing, hope shes feeling better soon.

mysonsmummy · 22/07/2006 14:17

brings back memories i think ds was younger but it turned into the nightmare day from hell for me. he was being sick as well. id lay him in cot - it happned - moved him in the end run out of all towels sheets i had. took him to drs and when we got in with dr he just fell asleep but he wood not wake up. he hadnt slept all nite so we wernt sure if hed passed out or as wwas just in a deep asleep. so they rang ambulance. but it was just a bug. hes nearly 5 now and that the only hospital visit we've had so far.

biglips · 22/07/2006 14:39

when you said that i thought god why didnt i just keep nappy on. then i realised he was being sick more than the other. thinking of you.

CorrieDale · 23/07/2006 14:36

I've heard that painting raw egg white over the raw bits helps to protect them. But I've never tried it myself.

CorrieDale · 23/07/2006 14:39

oh, and if the diarrhoea continues, I'd definitely take her to the doctor. In the meantime, plenty of fluids and (I know - this is dead obvious) lots of hand-washing on both your parts and anybody else's in the house.
