Has anyone got Coeliac disease?

I've got a query diagnosis of Coeliac disease - off to see a Gasteroenterologist soon - just wondering how manageable it is diet-wise. What can/can't you eat? I've had a look at a few websites but don't want to register with the Coeliac charity one just yet, in case I haven't got it, and other websites just say no wheat - not many details!

I don't have it, but a close friend has. She has been soooo much fitter and more well since following a gluten-free diet. There is gluten in lots of other grains (rye, barley, oats , i think) as well as in wheat, so it is a little restrictive. But there are wheat-free alternatives widely available in supermarkets and healthfood stores (often available on prescription). I think the croissants may leave a little to be desired but the pasta is pretty good!

HTH Good luck.

I'd be very surprised if I did have it, as sufferers are usually all thin and wasting away - and I'm ENORMOUS!! Glimpsed one website which said instant coffee was off the agenda - this would pretty much halt my life... So fingers crossed the blood test was fibbing and I can carry on drinking coffee and eating cakes!
