dd1 has yet to loose a tooth but she has got a new molar coming through right at the back - it appears to be coming through where there's plenty of space so I'm not worried - just wondered is this was usual. she's got 20 teeth - this one will make 21

Was the same for ds - he got 4 back molars through before geting a wobbly tooth. I didn't even know that they got more molars at that age

answered my own q - this is what the British Dental Association website says:

When will my child?s teeth come through?
First or ?baby? teeth have usually developed before your child is born and will start to come through at around 6 months. All 20 baby teeth should be through by the age of 2. (refer to Mother and Baby leaflet.)

The first permanent molars (back teeth) will appear at about 6 years of age, behind the baby teeth and before the first teeth start to fall out at about 6 to 7. The permanent ?adult? teeth will then replace the ?baby? teeth. It is usually the lower front teeth that are lost first, followed by the upper front teeth shortly after. All permanent teeth should be in place by the age of 13, except the wisdom teeth. These may erupt any time between 18 and 25 years of age.

Completely normal then Poor ds was complaining of a sore mouth for days before I realised it was due to molars coming through
