Removing a splinter from a toddler

DS has got a splinter in the sole of his foot and before I attempt removing it with tweezers I just wondered if anyone has any tips that will make removing it less stressful for him (and me)?

tell him it won't hurt a bit! and maybe set something up to distract him- TV, film etc?

Google 'how to remove a splinter with bicarbonate of soda'- I haven't tried it myself but I have heard that it works a treat.

That's interesting, I had heard that before but it just sounded so unlikely to work.

Magnesium sulphate and a plaster it will draw the splinter out. Kindest way for little onesSmile

I've just been googling Zugsalbe - an ointment that we used to buy in Switzerland and Germany - but it doesn't seem to exist here. Shame, it is really good.

I suspect it is similar to magnesium sulphate or bicarb - draws the splinter out.

You can use soap and sugar to create a poultice which will also draw it out, cupboard ingredients and cover with a plaster to let the poultice work it's magic :)
