Aching joints after my baby

My daughter is six months old and recently I have felt really, really achey. I'm never ever ill and had a straight forward and easy going water birth at home, during which time I remember shrieking that my hip was going to 'go out. It's only just flared up in the last few weeks, but without sounding like a hypochondriac, every joint in my body aches. I can barely rotate my feet without my ankles paining and my left hip hurts when I drive. It literally takes me a few minutes to get back to normal when I get out of the car. If I carry my daughter upstairs, my back hurts. My sister says that you often feel achey after having a baby but I wonder if it really is to this extent. I am holding back from going to the doctor as I'm hoping it will just pass and I feel like a right hypochondriac. If anyone has any ideas or advice, please let me know. Is there anything I can take like glucosamine?

Sorry can't help shinyshilling but I suffer in exactly the same way. Ds2 is 8 months and I walk like the hunch back of Notre Dame when I've been sitting down for any length of time. My ankles have no mobility at all. Pants.

Its quite normal

when you're pregnant a hormone called relaxin goes round your body its job is to relax your ligaments so that you can give birth

it stays in your system up to a year after birth giving you potential issues with your joints

I would double check with doctor its nothing else as a starting point just to get rid of the niggling doubt

glucosamine is a joint support supplement (I personally am not sure how much it will help) .. taking it a bit easier is your best bet

i had this after ds1 (now 9). was especially bad in hands and feet... i took cod liver oil / some vitamin mix thing meant for joint mobility but not sure it helped... did go away after a while on its own.
what you've described sounds quite severe. if you are worried you should go to gp. dont want to be alarmist but there was a thread on here a while ago re link between pregnancy and onset opf some forms of arthritis... not for a moment suggesting that's what you have (what do i know) just that you should get problem checked out maybe...
