I broke my wrist at the beginning of November last year and have had no trouble whatsoever since. Until this week that it. I work as a T.A and last week I had to help put up and take down a very heavy stage every day. It is made up of 8 pieces and each piece needed 3 of us to lift it. We did this every day last week and I had no pain or probs at all. I did it again on Monday and still had no problems. However on Monday night my wrist swelled up and the pain was very bad. I have been wearing my splint all week but the pain tonight it worse then ever and it is still swollen.
I'm thinking of heading to minor injuries tomorrow but I was just wandering if it is possible that I could have caused some damage this long after the origional break. I would honestly say that the pain tonight is equal to the pain that I felt when I initially broke it.
I have never suffered a broken anything before now so dont really know if this is normal and I have just over used it or if I have done something more serious.
Thanx

Not normal, could be related to some damage done in Nov11 but with soft tissue damage not much you can do about it, anyway. My guess is it's a new injury but maybe exacerbated by previous break.

If it's very painful then get it seen asap.

Thank you - yes I am def going to get it looked at tomorrow. Just couldn't understand how it did not hurt at all whilst moving the stage. No warning signs at all that it was going to go.

Marking my place to see how you get on. I broke my wrist in March this year and had it pinned a few weeks later, now nine months later it has started to hurt again and I to have been back in my splint. I hope yours is ok, I'm wondering if mine has become arthritic. Fingers crossed its all ok :-))

Have you tried to take anti inflamatories?

I broke my wrist when my dd was about a year old, and it took seven years before it was completly right and even now Im cagey about doing handstands

I also had that hormonal weakening of wrists and pelvis when pregnant, and I think that contributed to the general weakening of my wrists.

I went to a physio and got exercises and advice. My GP also recommended anti inflamatories.

If the breakage was not your fault, see a reputable injury solicitor. Quality Solicitors are good and are nationwide.
And go see a specialist, not a GP.
I hope this helps.

Arthritis flaring up possibly. Most breaks tend to cause a bit of arthritis and the cold weather will play havoc with it take anti-inflams and see how you go.
