CRP blood test, what is this

Can anyone tell me what this blood test means, been having pains all round upper body for about 4 months, feeling like crap. Went to doctor's and they did lots of blood tests, about 7 in total , all came back normal but was told they need to repeat one again in a weeks time, so have to go on Thursday next week the blood test is called a CRP blood test does anybody know what this test is or what it means, am going out of my mind with worry.

Non-specific inflammatory marker - can be raised for all sorts of reasons

Repeating it in the first instance is the right thing to do.

CRP = C reactive protein and is a marker for inflammation. Inflammation may be caused by infection or some diseases.

I have regular blood tests which include CRP as I have rheumatoid arthritis and it shows how active my disease is, however it is also skewed if I have an infection.

So would it be normal to repeat it a week after getting it first done?

Yes.

it's totally non-specific, could be raised becasue you have a cold or ingrowing toenails or a plook on your back or anything at all that causes inflammation.

It can be slightly raised in a lot of people, more so in women, and the repeat check is simply to see that it is static. If it is in single/low double figures it is v unlikely to mean anything significant.
