Hi All

New here but need to waffle on!...

I'm 40 (.5!) & have had "normal" periods all the way until the last 3 mths when they have been v.short or v.light....last month was v.light but have been spotting/light now for nearly 3 wks...have also got an on & off tenderness lower right abdo....

Have got myself in such a worrying mess...went to GP this morning who was lovely :) I confessed I was also overdue a smear by a few years (v v v stupid I know) & she took a history, going for bloods tomorrow & see her next week for an internal & smear....

I am feeling so so so frightened, I had a panic attack when I came out the GPs & was sick with worrying when I got home.....

GP kept reassuring me it could be caused by 1001 things but I cannot focus on anything but the worst, have just burst into tears putting up the Xmas tree :( :(

So sorry for the ramble but needed to "talk" :)

TBH this sounds hormonal.
You are young for menopause but it's not unusual for women to go through it before 45 ( premature meno) so that's what my money is on.
If you had had bleeding alone then maybe it could be your cervix, but when you have had light periods and for 3 months then the odds are really on your hormones.

I wonder why your GP didn't do a smear there and then, today?

I think it's either your hormones ( did your mum have an early meno perhaps?) or you have a polyp possibly but that doesn't account for the light periods.

Please try not to worry. Cervical cancer is usually a very slow growing cancer anyway and the odds are you don't have anything like that.
