I was very poorly with Graves disease and developed agranulocytosis as a result to medication and was finally operated to remove the thyroid entirely. During the months leading to surgery, my boss' wife, a nutritionist, forced me to buy a supplement called thyroid complex which was supposed to be a miracle cure for overactive thyroid. Well, my specialist at the hospital said that it was like throwing fuel to the flames and I certainly shouldn't take it and it should never have been sold to me.
Now, am I morally to pay for the product that I never used and was strongly urged not to take? I am very tempted to claim back the £50 I paid for the supplement together with a copy of my epicrisis with a comment from the doctor against the supplement. And of course spread the word as to my understanding taking the supplement that seems to be recommended for underactive thyroid when suffering from the opposite could have made me serious damage. I don't normally complain but am seriously pissed with her.
