Ive only had it once or twice in my life but over the last few days ive been feeling really uncomfortable. At first i thought it was thrush as i was itchy and so i brought some cream and tablet medication which seemed to relieve it. But then ive found i constantly feel the need to wee but cant and finding it very painful down below. Ive been drinking loads of water which helped a bit as i was able to do a proper wee but then it sort of dried up and felt uncomfortable again. Im drinking 6 glasses of water-what else can i do.Ive never had both before at the same time.

Get thee to the doctors. Quick quick. It turns to kidney infection very fast if you don't start antibiotics. And take a wee sample with you.

I had same symptoms as you last summer and drank loads of water and sachet things from chemist. All I did was delay the inevitable. Ended up in agony - abdominal pain, back pain, temperature sky-high, shivering and shaking, chattering teeth. The works.

Now I go to the doctor with my wee sample at the first signs and he gives me antibiotics to nip it in the bud.

Its not something you can cure yourself of. You can keep it at bay once you are bacteria free though by drinking cranberry juice every day and making sure you dont get dehydrated in this hot weather.

I agree with Moon. I tried drinking loads and used the stuff from the chemist. It improved for one day but as soon as I stopped drinking gallons it came back. After a week (and a very uncomfortable camping trip) a 3 day course of antibiotics sorted it out and I wish I had gone sooner for those.

Yes, the stuff from the chemist is only bicarb or something, and only stops the symptoms whilst you are taking it. It doesnt kill the bacteria.
