Had them for about a week now and it's miserable. I've never experienced pain like it and nothing seems to help.

I'm treating with scheriproct suppositories, anusol cream and taking brufen granules and paracetamol for the pain.

The swelling seems to have gone down a bit today but the pain... omg it's like someone digging around with a razor blade :(

Is there ANYTHING else I can do?

Have you been examined? If it's that painful I would think either a thrombosed pile (bloody agonising) or possibly a fissure alongside a pile (fissures apparently don't bleed but often appear along with piles and I can confirm that they also are bloody agonising). If thrombosed I believe docs can cut them (!!) and relieve the pain that way. If fissure the only way mine healed was taking movicol to ease things. You have my full sympathy it is totally and utterly miserable Sad

Thanks BigArea,

I've not been to the gp this time, had the stuff left over from the last time I had them. I don't have issues with constipation at all, more the opposite. There's very little bleeding, but up until today the swelling extended to my genitals.. I felt like one of those baboons with the red arses but it has gone down quite a bit today which is giving me hope that it's finally on the way out.

Tbh the thought of it being fiddled with fills me with horror.. I've read threads on here in the past about how horrific some of the treatments are and I'll do anything to avoid that.

I suppose if it's not better I'll have to go see the gp but the buggers are closed tomorrow.. arrggh :(

Oh dear Sad All I can suggest then is cold packs, warm baths (although I hate baths as am basically sat on the bloody things!!!) regular painkillers (stagger ibuprofen and paracetamol so they don't wear off) and keeping as still as possible. I do think it's worth establishing exactly what is causing it though as pain sounds excruciating and treatment will differ depending on exactly what it is. FWIW they don't operate these days unless you have an extremely severe case so unlikely to go that far - more likely that they will offer you different medication to try. Good luck.

Join the club painful or what, Anusol is useless. I feel horrible. Too embarrassed to go to go and bleeding a lot Sad

BigArea · 04/12/2013 23:20

Oh and can you try witch hazel?

CrispyHedgehogFucker · 04/12/2013 23:45

ahh thanks you both, I feel less alone now. Gentle pat on the arm for you MrsWelly :) Too embarrassed to tell anyone in rl what's wrong with me.

I'll get some witch hazel tomorrow.. do I just dab it on the offended area?

I think the cause is frequent and violent diarrhoea, which can't be helped or avoided. Luckily Farmer Giles doesn't appear too often, maybe once a year or so which is why I've not really pursued any kind of treatment til now but this is just going on too long :(

BigArea · 05/12/2013 00:02

I like germoloids ointment - seems cooling and kills pain a bit as well as supposedly shrinking the buggers. Sorry about your respective bottoms Sad

I had to get mine seen a few years ago. Stunning male doctor, a chaperone nurse, me in the middle of the heaviest af ever and my bare bum Xmas Blush
Mortified

BigArea · 06/12/2013 23:01

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 06/12/2013 23:22

Tis hideous.
Not at the same time obv!

CrispyHedgehogHoHoHoFucker · 19/12/2013 00:12

Much better.. for now.
I suppose I'm quite lucky in that they only flare up every few months, give me hell for a couple of weeks and then calm down again.
Saw my consultant last week and mentioned it to him, he nodded and I'm seeing him again next week so I think he'll go through options then.

Stripey I did :o at your situation :o
