Not sure what you're asking? I had a single tooth extracted and then replaced with an implant. Worked very well for me.

Not sure except it's NOT a crown

There are a couple of different ways they replace a single tooth. After the old one is extracted, you can have a bridge - where the false tooth is attached to the teeth on either side. You can have an implant where they drill a titanium post into the gum and then stick a crown on top of that (this is what I have). I think there are probably other things they can do too.

Bridge is cheaper than the Implant but can damage teeth on either side.

Can you speak to your dentist about your options?

did you have to have root canal work first?

No - mine was a baby tooth that had no adult tooth behind it. The baby tooth was coming loose so it had to go.

it's the thought of the root canal wsork thatputs me off

Yeah, I hear its not pleasant. I hate having any sort of dentistry, and the implant was not an easy experience at all!

Speak to your dentist about your options - can you leave it, does it have to be done and in what time frame, will the root canal be worse if you leave it etc.

I didn't have much choice with mine, I'd left it for a couple of years, but I was getting pain from the loose tooth and didn't want to be left with a gap. So had it done. Glad its over and would do it again, but I didn't enjoy it!

If you need an extraction then you won't have root canal treatment unless the other teeth are damaged. Can you clarify a bit what the problem is that's causing you to need an extraction.

I had root canal work this week- it was no worse than a large filling, and didn't hurt a bit, although took a while.
