Can I ask about Fibromyalgia ..

Hi, I've just been diagnosed with this and interested in other sufferers symptoms.

My legs seem to be the most affected with tender points on inside of my calves & knees. Also the outside of my hips & thighs are very sore to pressure.

Weirdly the outside of my ribs (about bra strap level) are also very tender to touch.

I get very restless legs in the evening and they ache terribly sometimes. I have some OK days and other days when I feel so tired I feel like I'm dragging myself about. My legs feel so heavy and weak when I'm walking my dog but I have to keep up the exercise.

Does anyone have really bad flare ups ? I have had two flare ups since August where my hips almost feel like there is something mechanical wrong with them as it's so painful to walk and put weight on my legs. I've had MRI's which only shows normal wear & tear for a 50yr old.

I'd be really interested to hear others experiences of Fybro ..

And the Fibro Fog, what's that all about ? Sometimes I just can;t find the right word & forget things - I thought it was an age thing too Smile

I have M.E and fibro, am currently bed bound with them and the pain is off the scale. Sorry you are suffering too- are you taking anything to help with the aches? I find that ibuprofen gel can be good as well as heat pads or ice (depending on which works for you) and if you can manage a bath with epsom salts.

As for the fogginess I completely understand, at the moment I barely have the energy for a conversation but when I'm a bit better I find I get my words confused, can't find the right one and sometimes forget what I'm saying mid sentence!

Also this might be useful if you've not seen it before:

And there are some good Facebook groups dealing with these illnesses and chronic fatigue issues too.

some people think it is all thyroid related. what was your tsh t4 and t3? worth reading up on

also have you had vit d tested? I get similar pains when my vit d drops too low

I have no idea what any of those are actually- I had my bloods taken a few months ago when this latest relapse started and apparently they all came back normal. I need to chase up getting an actual break down of the results because I do wonder if I am on the border for any of them; I did ask last time I was well enough to attend the surgery but told that I needed to put the request in writing.

For me the only thing which seems to help is rest and time; my body crashes and then regains strength when it wants to. I know a lot of people who find extra vitamins and things do help though. I am trying to eat better and drink more fluids too.

Well said merci - saved me a job this time lol

TSH, FT4, FT3, TPO, TgAB plus vitamin B12, folate, vitamin D and ferritin are the tests you need and some check of how your adrenals are performing.

My fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue has gone completely since I got my thyroid sorted out.

how are you doing now RockinD?

newestbridearound · 03/12/2013 20:52

Can I ask if yours flagged up as abnormal on the tests or whether they came back in range but it turned out there was something wrong?

I don't have fibromyalgia, but the CFS version of this document is good, so maybe the fibromyalgia one is too?
