Alone with a hot spotty baby

DD4 has chickenpox - huge red ringed blisters everywhere. A few on her back are surinfected... It is very hot here at the moment - last night the temperature outside was 32° at midnight and the daytime temps are between 35° and 40°, so she can't go out and neither can I. I have bought her a tiny paddling pool and dunking her in it at the end of the afternoon when it is less blazing outside and we can sit on the terrace in the shade - until she wants to run around and we have to come back in.

Any ideas of how to get through the next week?

Oat baths? Run a sock full off porridge oats under the hot tap into the bath, make it tepid, and let her play in it for ages. The oat is supposed to sooth the skin.

aw poor bubba, i remember smothering mine in cammomile lotion, not sure if it's still the done thing, but it soothed him, he got chicken pox at about 8 months.

My dd has just had chickenpox. We used the baths as well - we just put a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda into a tepid bath. Really seemed to help. It was hot then too but not quite as hot as that! I put her in her paddling pool at 5pm like you have, Pierre. How old is she? If the spots were v itchy I gave dd piriton (suitable from 1yr I think?)

Being France, she is dosed up with paracetamol and antihistamines. I bought a toy boat yesterday - one of those blow up ones for swimming pools and have been dumping her in with a handful of sodium bicarb.

It is very odd, most of my friends are on holiday or away and the others are working and partying. I am in isolation with dd4. If internet shopping was better here, I would do a huge shop and hole myself in for a week.

Can you get hold of Eurax lotion? And phenergan helped our dd2 better than piriton. They do have to be over two though.
