After nearly 2 weeks of awful pain, no sleep and not being able to eat and the NHS messing me about (despite me being an emergency) I am having my op tomorrow at a local private hospital.
I am soooo nervous!
The surgeon feels that due to the inflammation I may need a sub total cholestectomy (partial) and I will need to stay overnight.
I am scared and nervous and worried.
I know I need the op, I cannot go on like this.
:(

eeek.

My gallbladder op was remarkable only for the fact that I had so much on in the days leading up to it that they had to wake me up to put me to sleep (and wake me up to throw me out afterwards BlushGrin) so I can't help on the potential complications, but I can say that being rid of the pain was fantastic and completely outweighed any post op pain.

don't panic, the relief from the pain makes it worth it. When I had mine out I came round from the anaesthetic and immediately thought 'I haven't felt this good in ages' even though I was in a bit of pain from the surgery. But the pain was minimal.

You'll be fine. Thanks

gobbin · 30/11/2013 10:44

Hope it went well

amandaburfoot · 30/11/2013 11:15

good luck. I had mine removed when I was 19 and it was such a relief to have that awful pain gone.
take it easy after as you will be sore, all the very best Smile

Badvoc · 30/11/2013 11:30

Leave for hospital @ 12.30
Got to say bye to the kids.
That will be hard :(

Think of all that lovely uninterrupted sleep Smile.

Hope it goes well - it honestly will be so nice to be rid of the pain.

Hi all
I am home.
Feeling a bit battered and tired but to be expected I guess.
I have clips too which means I will have to go and get them taken out end of this week.
Thank you all so much for the hand holding and kind wishes x

Well done, hope you make a speedy recovery. I didn't like the general anaesthetic but all else ok,... keep on top of the painkillers xxx

Badvocatyuletide · 03/12/2013 07:51

I am only taking paracetamol and ibuprofen since the op.
Hope to do without today if I can.

stealthsquiggle · 03/12/2013 08:46

Great that you're feeling better, OP, but don't be a hero about the painkillers.

Badvocatyuletide · 03/12/2013 10:06

Just changed my dressings and....I can't see any clips!!?
Have just phoned the hospital as now I have no idea what to do!
Stealth...I hear you :)

Badvocatyuletide · 03/12/2013 11:17

So...it turns out I have dissolvable stitches in!
Confusion was due to the fact I have 3 internal clips.
