Perforated ear drum after glue ear.

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any experience of glue ear causing perforations of the ear drum.

Mine started last Thursday after a bad cold, the ear felt full of fluid and kept changing in pressure and popping. The doc on Friday told me to try and pop my ears by doing the valsalva maneuver, i gave it a try on Monday morning and ruptured my ear drum which released lots of liquid for the nest day or so then stopped.

Right now its no longer leaking but feels so full and strange like being underwater and i've lost most of the hearing in that side and have loud Tinnitus. The doc saw me Monday morning and gave me a months worth of antibiotics, (which seemed a lot) and told me to go back in two weeks.

Is this normal after a rupture, does anyone know how long the blocked feeling take to go away, its making me feel really claustrophobic

Sorry for the essay. Smile

Yes I have, and my DS.
I think it is quite common, and you have the anti b because the risk of infection is higher now it's actually burst and is relieving the pressure.
Don't get any water in it! Be very careful washing.

Sorry forgot your other q. About a fortnight I think usually for the underwater full feeling to go, but that's nothing compared to the pain before it pops.
