My mouth feels really sore

My tongue and roof of my mouth feel really sore, but I can see anything that could be thrust or readness. Can anyone recommend anything I can rinse my mouth out with which may help, or foods to avoid. I also have a large ulcer under my tongue, but think that's eased a little.

Think I'm a bit run down as I can a cold before half term, felt like I was fighting another one off two weeks later and last week just didn't feel right.

Warm salt water is a good and cheap antiseptic. Difflam (benzydamine hydrochloride) is good if it's sore. Avoid anything too spicy or strongly flavoured.

When I had a sore mouth, a blood test revealed I was low in folates. Might be worth a visit to your GP?

Thanks for your replies. Will see if I can get some Difflam locally, if not will try a salt solution for a couple of days and hope it clears. SpottyDottie, it is continues or comes back, I will go to the doctor - although, I'm making myself eat it isn't as much as usual.
