My son has quite a bad astigmatism.

He doesn't need to wear glasses all the time now, but needs them for driving and watching TV etc.

Astigmatism can change so much over the years, it might have lessened. Do you have his prescription to put on here and I'll have a look for you?

That prescription is close to mine and i see really badly without glasses. Can he see'if he doesn't wear them?

My optican said contacts correct astigmatism better than glasses

That's a pretty high astigmatism not to be wearing glasses, even the cyl at a -3.00 would leave you fairly short sighted, how's his vision? Does he feel he needs to wear them? Was this the prescription from the optician that told him he didn't need to wear them?

MedusaIsHavingaBadHairday · 24/11/2013 23:57

I wouldn't think he was safe to drive without his glasses at that prescription!
I would get him to pop to another optician and ask their advice to be honest!
I have a much higher shortsightedness (-5.50) but my astigmatism is similar and I'm blind as a bat without my contacts in/glasses.!

OhYouBadBadKaleds · 25/11/2013 08:08

is he really -3 in one eye and +3.25 in the other eye for distance or was one of the signs a typo?

fiishfingers · 25/11/2013 13:44

Thanking you for the replies. This is the correct prescription .It was from the optician who said he did not need to wear them all the while.DS says he does not need to wear them to see.D ifferent optician and contact lenses are agood idea.
