first period after birth

DS was born by elcs 8 weeks ago (had DD by EMCS 5 years ago) and birth was complicated due to previous scar tissue/mistakes made in last CS. I was in theatre for 4 hours then taken back in as my uterus wouldn't contract, then on an internal drain for three days.

Started first period yesterday morning and through day was heavier/slightly more painful than normal, but manageable. Got up to feed DS at about 2am and pain was so intense on one side I thought I was going to be sick. I couldn't hold him or stand up. It's slightly better this morning but still v v sore/stabby. It's in the same spot as ovulation pain if that makes sense.

Just want to check in to see if others have experienced first periods of this intensity post pg?

My first period started 8 mo post birth & for about a week prior to it I had intense stabbing pains like you described. That came on for the first few periods & then disappeared. You may also find (this close to giving birth) that you have some trapped wind in there - happened to me, I thought I had appendicitis!
