9yr old had seizure at school

My ds had a seizure at during lunch at school but no one noticed until the boy sat next to him saw he had wet himself. After having it checked at the hospital no one can tell me what caused it. They only did the basic tests but have said they will look into it more if he has another one.
I have never been so worried in my life, my first thought was epilepsy but unless he has another seizure then it probably isnt that. They have just called it an Afebrile Convulsion.

What makes it worse is he is usually such a healthy child, hes hardly ever ill. Im keeping him off school tomorrow even though he wants to go (strange child). I know i cant wrap him up in cotton wool but im worried that one or two idiots will tease him about wetting himself plus i want him near even if its just for the day, to put my mind at ease. Ive already checked on him several times since he went to bed. I dont htink i will be getting much sleep tonight! It is horrible not having a proper reason for what happened, not that i want there to be something wrong but if i knew what may have caused it then i think it would be easier to deal with.
Hopefully it was just a once off!!

How awful for you and your son, pebblemum. Haven't got any useful advice but bumping thread in the hope that someone will be able to help you.

Oh pebblemum how worrying. Hopefully it was a one-off. Maybe the heat had something to do with it.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Pebblemum, sorry to hear this, you must feel dreadful. Your poor little boy. Nothing to say that will really help, but I hope it sorts itself out and sending to you both.

Thanks for your posts. DS1 seems ok today but not knowing what caused it is so worrying. I only got about 2hrs sleep last night for fear he would have another one in his sleep and i wouldnt hear. The docs didnt seem to think it was the heat but arent that interested in finding a cause unless it happens again.

To make matters worse i ended up having a big arguement with dh this morning. He had promised to take ds1 out today to make up for the fact he couldnt go to school but at the last minute dh decided to forget his promise and go off to play golf with his friends. I went mad, after all that worry yesterday the least he could have done is spent some time with ds as arranged. I ended up taking both the boys to the beach with my parents. We had a great day but im still mad at dh, hes not home yet and to be honest i couldnt care less if he doesnt bother. His mobile has been switched off all day so if anything had happened and i had needed him, it was tough. Poor ds was upset at missing out o time with his dad, he didnt need to be let down after yesterday. Bloody Men!!

At least ds seems ok though, as long as he is fine then nothing else matters.
