Could I have PCOS?

I developed acne a year ago which eventually got treated. I was on the pill whilst it was being treated, and I decided to come off it at the end of my acne treatment.

6 months later my periods have returned, and I am beginning to get some spots again. Quite annoying of course, but most young girls have a pimple from time to time.

However, about 3 minutes ago I found a hair on my chin and to be quite honest I am panicking.

Could I have PCOS?

I know I am very probably being ridiculous over 1 hair but I just have visions of struggling again with horrible acne and then having a beard added into the equation.

I have always had regular periods, they are not troublesome or painful at all. It's just the hair that is stressing me out.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

I promise I am not usually a hypochondriac, only when it applies to my skin!

If you are worried about having PCOS, you should go to your doctor who will give you a blood test and order an ultrasound. One of my DDs has PCOS and we discovered this because her periods didn't start--they only started after a year on the pill but even now she only has one about every 3 or 4 months. It's important to know you have it because it can make it more difficult to conceive because you ovulate less often than normal, and because you can be prone to putting on weight and developing metabolic syndrome, diabetes and heart disease etc. I know acne can be a problem with PCOS but oddly my DD doesn't suffer badly with this and neither is she very hairy!
