ANyone know anyone who has had this condition and the operation please...

Consultant did say it is very rare, he has only seen 6 cases in 35years, and my doctor has never seen a case.....
Have looked it up on the web but doesnt really help. Any one have any experience re this.

My dd has this following an ilizarov frame; she has talipes - club foot. It only affects her now when she needs to flex her ankle and foot - for example when walking on the beach or in snow.

How old is your daughter? Does she have talipes or feet problems?

thank you peirre, for your response. My dd is 9 years old. She doesnt suffer with anything else. She has in the last 8 months had 4 fractures to her foot, (once in november a double fracure and again last month) each time the fractures have been small.
When her cast came of today the cnsultant wasnt happy as she has next to no movement in her ankle when he tried to rotate it. He has old me that if the MRI confirms what he thinks then she will need an operation, but will have to be flown back tot he uk for this. (we currently lve in cyprus as dh is in the forces.)

My dd was 8 when she had an operation to mend her club foot and the secondary result unfortunately was the fusion as she was unable to move her foot for months. Which hospital/specialist would you be seeing? Do you know yet?

Not sure the consultant I seen today was over here from Salisbury, he was standing on for our local orthoped (he was much better though alot more thouro wish he was staying).
I cant be sure where she ould go the last person I know who went back for some orthopedic surgery went to Birmingham. We get sent to different hospitalsi nthe uk depending on the case.. which hospital did you go to...

Was the operation big, tbh I didnt ask many questions today as all the terms were going over my head, i got to grips with what he was saying in the end but left ina bit of a daze, we only went to get her cast removed!!!

My daughter was treated in London and in Surrey. Stanmore is the leading bone hospital but I think there are those elsewhere who specialise in paediatric orthopaedics and would have an interest in this. Poor her, how miserable to have had all that in such a short time.

Thanks again Pierre, can they not fix your daughters fusion, does it not cause anyother probs.

DD is really upset as she is really sporty she was doing kickboxing netball, hockey etc and now can only do swimming, her first double fracture was whilst she was out walking she went over on her ankle , the second time she was running playing cricket.
TBH now I know a bit more about her suspected ailment it is making sense to things ie why she is fracturing her foot easily.....

Lndon and Surrey hospitals would suit me for her as we will be near to my mam.
