For the past week DD has started to complain that her leg hurts. I took her to get her feet measured to make sure it wasnt her shoes, but since then ive assumed that shes making it up to get me to carry her as other times she seems fine to run about the garden etc.
But today she got out of bed and started crying saying her leg hurt(pointing to her calf) and that she wanted to be carried. When she did try and walk she was crying and limping. She is still unable to walk on her leg now.

Part of me thinks that she may have just pulled a muscle and its coincidence that shes was going on about her legs hurting last week.
But the other half of me thinks that maybe there is something wrong with her leg and all sorts of things are flying through my head like bone cancer, child lukemia etc.

What do i DO. i KNOW THAT IF i TAKE HER TO THE GP'S THEY WILL PROBABLY JUST BRUSH IT OFF AS ONE OF THOSE THINGS.

Take her to the doctor - they will not brush you off. There is a type of infection that causes pain in joints and needs treated with antibiotics. She might just have pulled a muscle but you should definitely get her seen.

I would get this checked out by your GP as it may be tendonitis. In my son's case his calf muscle hurt and he ended up hobbling about. Has she fallen (awkwardly) recently?.

The leg will probably be x-rayed.

one of my old charges had leg pain... started limping and then it got really bad...

he had osteomyalitus (sp?) and had to spend 2 weeks in hospital on IV antibiotics... then 4 weeks off schhol and 6 months on antibiotics....

PS osteomylitus is bone infection

I took her to the doctors this morning. Last night she was walking on it and seems to be putting weight on the leg now as she was climbing her slide etc but shes still limping its as if its her hip as when she walks shes sticking her leg out to the side.

The gp said that her hips seemed fine and he pressed her calf etc and she didnt complain. He mentioned that it could be a viral infection or child arthiritus(sp) and if she was still complaining or limping in a week to go back.

He did say she may be putting it on but I dont think in a 2.2 year old that would be possible for such a long time.

Happymum - I hope you get some answers soon. Its so hard when they cant really tell you whats wrong.
