Question for fellow coeliacs

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone else has this issue, thanks in advance for any replies.
I stick carefully to my gluten free diet and use the supermarket 'free from' products for most breakfasts and lunches. But if I eat more than a certain amount I get fairly immediate bowel problems. So today for example I have had a medium portion of a g/f cereal, then for lunch I was hungry so had 3 slices of Newburn g/f bread with cheese. I was still peckish so had a g/f biscuit. And was ill. But when I went to a recent Coeliac meeting where there was a buffet, people had their plates piled high with stuff. I remember thinking that I would never manage that amount without being ill. Do I need to go back to my dr? Or is it normal to have a 'safe' limit, even when the food is free from?

If you are sensitive, then there will be a limit to the amount of deglutened wheat or gf oats you can eat without getting ill.

I can only have 2 portions of gf oats a week without issues for instance.

But the Newburn is naturally gf, having just checked, so maybe its something used in specific free from foods that you are reacting to.

Are you fairly new gf?

No CMOT it's been years! You would think I would know by now, but I don't really have any g/f friends to talk with and didn't know if I was being unrealistic in expecting to be able to eat this amount of free from stuff. I know a jacket potato or salad would be an alternative lunchtime choice, but not quite so quick and easy!

I only said were you new as the recently diagnosed will often react to things as their intestines are damaged.

I don't have any coeliac friends in rl, but by weird coincidence I have 3 friends who are gf for other reasons so we exchange lots of gf finds. Including my latest, which is draft gf real ale!

Ok, I see now.
Thanks.
(going to use a Tardis just because I can!)
