Ear wax!!

Practise nurse peered into 3yo DS1s ears this week and said they're full of wax. Recommended putting warm olive oil in to loosen it, which I've been doing for a couple of days now, at night. I'm warming it in the microwave for a couple of seconds, then dropping it into his ear, using the calpol syringe, at bedtime. Is this the right thing to do? and how long will I have to wait until fat chunks of ear wax start to drop out

Is the wax causing your son any problems? Children can have quite waxy ears therefore I would tend to leave alone. I'm a practice nurse also and on the occasion that I have checked my own son's ears they are full of wax also.

Thanks for coming back to me. I thought I'd bored everyone off...

We went to see her because of minor earache. She said she was surprised he could hear there was so much and that it was obscuring her view if his eardrum. thinks he has a narrow ear canal hence excessive build up

WWYD?

My son had a lot of ear wax when he was young too. I was advised to put oil in and the doctor syringed his ears. When we came out of the surgery, DS had his hands over his ears as he said the traffic noise was too loud! p.s. loads of wax came out.
