(virtually) giving up wheat is a revelation!

My IBS seems to have stopped now I've given up wheat for a month! It's been a nightmare for years and the hospital have given me every test known to man. Now it's just down to my dietician and me to figure out the best diet for me.

So no more normal bread and pasta, but no more pain and bloating (I hope!). The odd biscuit is ok (maybe one or two a day if I'm active) but anything else and I pay for it for 36hrs.

Try homemade bread. I have massive symptoms with shop bought but can eat homemade pretty well as long as I don't overdo it.

I might try that. I'd give my right arm for a crusty loaf of brown bread!

I also have a problem with a lot of bread, but I don't think it's the wheat because I can eat pasta, cake, biscuits - although not too many because too many refined carbs makes it worse and I really feel bad. I seem to be OK with pita bread and soda bread. I have no idea why. I thought it might be yeast as soda bread/scones have no yeast - but pita does - but there must be something in the process of bread making that upsets me. I don't seem to be better with homemade bread either - except for soda bread. It is interesting though!

I have decided to go gluten free for a couple of health related issues to see if it helps. Just started yesterday so too soon to tell but easy enough so far, come back to me on Day ten! That's if I get that far Grin
Not going to be superstrict on every minute thing but generally no bread(hard bit), cakes (not too bad), pasta(also difficult) and revise the cereals I eat.

Good luck OP
