Just wanted to ask how you cope when DC are sick?

DS 22 months has had a horrible bug and I've been cleaning up both ends for the last two days. My anxiety has been terrible and I just wondered what other people do to help cope in these situations?

DH is currently lying on the sofa also feeling unwell, he hasn't been sick yet but the fear is overwhelming. I feel like an awful wife and mother for not wanting to comfort the people I love. I am even thinking of asking DH to sleep on the sofa so I don't have to hear him being ill Sad

Hello. Sorry you are going through this BabyH!

Yes, definitely ask dh to sleep well away from you so that you don't have to share all the upheaval if he is unwell.

I am afraid there is no easy answer to what you do when your dc are unwell if you are emetophobic. You just have to cope with it and put up with the huge amount of stress and anxiety Sad. Your children need you.

My dh always does the bulk of caring in these circumstances if he is at home (which he very often isn't).

It will all be over in a day or two. Thinking of you XX

Oh poor you - lots of us on a support thread in mental health. It is the hardest time of year for us isn't it. Hope your family recover soon.

Another sufferer here. I don't think there is any great way to cope - it feels like hell no matter what. I always ache for days at such times because all my muscles are so tense with the anxiety. Just do whatever you need to do to be able to get through. xxx

Thanks for the replies.

DH slept downstairs but we were both ill in the night Confused

This is the second bug we've all had but my anxiety seems to have increased.

Now I'm wondering where DS picked it up and where we should avoid!

Will pop over to mental health and have a look at the support thread thanks for mentioning.
