Have been not quite right for about 3 months now. First I was diagnosed as very anaemic and put on iron tablets (this was due to years of v heavy periods, and I've also been scanned and a small fibroid found). Since then, iron count has improved and the doc has told me to stop taking the iron now.

Since beginning the iron, I've been horribly (but not constantly) dizzy - sort of as if my head is filling with black paint, or as if somebody has given me a slight shove from behind. This has continued since stopping taking the iron too.

My fingers and toes are pretty much permanently cold and tingly - and my fingers frequently turn blue or purple, even when not cold - they look bruised at the tips. I also get really wobbly in the legs - as if I'm walking on a moving floor, or as if my legs are heavier than I can actually pick up.

I sort of feel like I did in early pregnancy, but have felt like it intermittently over all that time - and am not!

Doc keeps saying to give it another month and see how I feel, but it will soon be four months!

Sorry - meant to say thank you and congratulations, if you made it to the end of my OP!

Anybody?

Have you had your blood pressure checked? Might it be a bit low?

If it's similar to how you felt in early pregnancy, then perhaps it's a hormone thing. Have you had your thyroid checked?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/11/2013 21:46

Blood pressure and thyroid both tested and fine. But thank you. Thanks

Thanks, Lev. I don't know what the counts are but the doctor said that they are all back in the normal range now. Periods are still heavy but am just about to go into my third one on tranexamic acid, so they should be getting lighter, I hope.

Thank you. I get occasional 'flutters' rather than general breathlessness.

Get your ferritin count. It should be above 80-90. Most ranges are 15 plus but really should be a lot higher (google for info). Mine was 22, gp said fine but I wasn't. Did lots of research and started taking spatone. Feeling much, much better now.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/11/2013 14:04

Thanks, DP.

I'll go back to the doc again. I feel exhausted, and as if my head is being pushed in and being filled with blackness. It's horrible.

I get a lot of your symptoms with stress. My fingers and toes are tingly and often feet and hands although don't change colour. I feel as if my head is being pushed in and get the walking on a moving floor sensation. Dr likened it to silent migraine. Also have you had b12 checked.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/11/2013 18:34

Silent migraine is a good description. I haven't had B12 checked, but you are the second person to suggest that. I'm not feeling particularly stressed )other than the normal day to day work stuff) but I felt equally bad over the summer holiday, when I wasn't at work. Thank you.
